Sector Skills Councils are permanent national councils led by a team of employers (private sector) in partnership with the NTC. They serve as a platform for dialogue where sector experts from the government, private sector, educational sector, and labor representatives gather. The legitimacy of these councils is established through decisions issued by the council and the commission. The main objectives of the Sector Skills Councils include:
- Developing and managing a labor market information system for the specific sector.
- Aligning skills and qualifications supply and demand in the labor market for the specific sector.
- Encouraging participation and contribution to the improvement of the TVET sector
- Monitoring all training services and programs and contributing to evaluating their outcomes.
- Enhancing the governance of technical and vocational education and training to better meet the needs of the labor market in close collaboration with the private sector.
- Achieving sustainable and effective private sector participation in the educational/training process in terms of planning, execution, and supervision.
To achieve success in this important collaboration between the public and private sectors, efforts have been made to develop a Renewable Energy Sector Council model as a first step towards its expansion to other sectors and economic activities. The following has been accomplished:
- The NTC’s Board draft resolution regarding the formation of Sector Skills Councils.
- NTC’s President draft resolution regarding the establishment of the Renewable Energy Sector Skills Council.
- Strategic plan for the Renewable Energy Sector Skills Council.
- Sustainability plan draft for the Renewable Energy Sector Skills Council.
- Executive plan for the first year of the strategic plan of the Renewable Energy Sector Skills Council.
- Draft of the proposed organizational and administrative structure for the Renewable Energy Sector Skills Council.
