Announcement of the launch of the Sectoral Skills Council initiative for the renewable energy industries sector in Palestine

The President of the National TVET Commission, Dr. Ziad Jweiles, and the Program Manager of DO-TVET Program at the German Cooperation Foundation GIZ in Palestine, Mr. Hans Joe, announced today, Wednesday, the launch of the Sectoral Skills Council initiative for the renewable energy industries sector in Palestine, through an extensive workshop held in Ramallah, attended by stakeholders in vocational and technical education and training, led by the National TVET Commission.

Representatives from the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Labor, Palestine Polytechnic University, Renewable Energy Industries Union, and several electricity distribution companies and companies operating in the renewable energy sector participated in the workshop, with the participation of Dr. Imad Salem and Dr. Nasr Attiyani from the Commission.

Spark Consultancy Company presented the proposed strategic and structural plan for the council, and opened it for discussion, and took feedback from the attendees, which mainly focused on the importance of establishing the council and enhancing its role in developing and improving the renewable energy sector in Palestine by providing skilled, trained, and qualified workforce for this sector, supplying companies operating in the renewable energy sector with their skill needs, bridging the gap in the labor market between vocational and technical education and training outputs and the needs of companies, and working on developing the curricula specifically for this purpose.
